Wildfires Force Mass Evacuations in Bordeaux Region and Provence as France Faces Extreme Heatwave
More than three thousand firefighters, supported by international teams from Ukraine and Lithuania, are battling major wildfires that have burned more than four hundred square kilometers in the Gironde region near Bordeaux and forced the evacuation of more than two hundred twenty thousand people. A separate wildfire in the Var department has also displaced thousands as France experiences increasingly severe summer heat and fire risks.
