Reports uncover the involvement of far-right parliamentarians in a Facebook group saturated with racist and violent remarks.
An online media outlet revealed on June 12 that sixteen deputies belonging to the far-right National Rally (Rassemblement National, RN) participated in an official
Facebook group that hosted numerous racist and hateful comments following disturbances after Paris Saint-Germain's UEFA Champions League victory.
Some members even served as administrators.
This finding mirrors previous revelations regarding two other
Facebook groups, namely ‘Rassemblement National (direction 2027!)’ and ‘La France avec Jordan Bardella’, which also included RN deputies.
However, the group under scrutiny this time was an official entity managed by the
Facebook account of the RN.
The group, originally named ‘Jordan Bardella’, was reportedly renamed to ‘Jusqu'à la victoire’ in an attempt to dissociate from the RN, with many party officials leaving after becoming aware of the media’s investigation.
Nonetheless, screenshots obtained by journalists indicated that over a hundred racist comments and calls to hatred and violence were posted between June 1 and June 8, encompassing the week following the European Cup final won by PSG.
Historically, ‘Jordan Bardella’ was closely moderated, often disabling comment features.
However, after images of the disturbances post-match circulated, an outpouring of hatred ensued among the group’s 84,000 members, resulting in inflammatory comments such as, 'Always the same color'; 'I see only filth or animals, not humans.
Where are the bananas?'; and 'Cockroaches, worse than vermin'.
Other derogatory remarks included 'A race of shit' and 'The monkeys of the suburbs'.
In addition to these racist comments, there was a notable increase in calls for murder: 'A good spray of bullets for this vermin'; 'It incites killing, we will end up taking justice, don’t be surprised if it ends badly'; and 'They need to be eliminated, they are pests'.
Extreme suggestions also surfaced, targeting the perceived enemies in increasingly violent language, indicating a disturbing trend towards hate-fueled rhetoric.
One shocking instance referenced a racially motivated attack that occurred a week prior in Var, where a victim, Hichem Miraoui, was killed.
The indicated comment, 'VOTE WELL NEXT TIME', directly echoed remarks made by the alleged murderer, who had made similar statements in a video declaring responsibility for the act.
This particular message gathered 17 supportive likes.
The group featured a total of 36 administrators and moderators, all affiliated with the RN, including former deputies, parliamentary aides, and local representatives.
While there was no obligation for them to remove offensive comments or ban their authors, four RN deputies acting as administrators were legally required to report these illicit remarks to the prosecutor's office, as mandated by Article 40 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure.
These deputies—David Magnier, Nicolas Dragon, Alexandre Allegret-Pilot, and Charles Alloncle—had failed to fulfill this requirement.
An additional twelve RN deputies, merely group members, were also expected to make the necessary reports but reportedly did not, including Stéphanie Galzy, Katiana Levavasseur, Michaël Taverne, and others, as noted in the investigation.
The findings challenge the notion of a few 'bad apples' within the party, as the investigation identified a total of 34 deputies from the RN, alongside two from the Union of Rights for the Republic (UDR), engaging in online spaces rife with racist, anti-Semitic, or homophobic rhetoric, marking a significant portion of the far-right party's representation in the French National Assembly.
