Incident linked to protest messages regarding Gaza; legal proceedings ongoing.
A Scottish court has granted bail to Kieran Robson, 33, accused of vandalizing the Turnberry golf course owned by former U.S. President
Donald Trump.
The incident occurred earlier in March when the golf course's grounds were reportedly defaced with red paint and a protest message reading "GAZA IS NOT 4 SALE" was inscribed in large letters on the turf.
The vandalism was discovered on the morning of March 8, prompting a swift response from law enforcement.
During a brief hearing at Ayr Sheriff Court, Robson was charged with vandalism and released on bail pending further court proceedings.
The police investigation surrounding the incident has also involved the arrest of a 66-year-old woman and a 75-year-old man, both of whom were subsequently released while inquiries continue.
Trump recently faced international backlash after suggesting in February that Palestinians from Gaza could be relocated to Egypt and Jordan to transform the area into a so-called "Riviera of the Middle East." In response to the vandalism at Turnberry, Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to denounce the damage and commend the actions of British law enforcement following a conversation with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.
Turnberry, located in southwestern Scotland, is one of two golf resorts owned by Trump in the UK, a country that holds personal significance for him as it is the homeland of his mother.
Concurrently, another of Trump's golf courses, Doonbeg in Ireland, was targeted by activists during the same period, where Palestinian flags were planted on the premises.
