France Canyon Wildfire Expands to Nearly 7,650 Acres in Utah
Crews gain 5 percent containment as fire grows across rugged terrain
The France Canyon Fire, located south‑west of Bryce Canyon in Utah, has grown to nearly 7,650 acres and remains approximately 5 percent contained, according to U.S. Forest Service reports.
Firefighting teams utilizing hotshot crews, engines, helicopters and air tankers have mounted back‑burn operations and built containment lines along southern flanks, while Red Flag warnings for high winds and low humidity complicate suppression efforts.
Smoke continues to drift over Bryce Canyon National Park and nearby communities, though no structures are currently threatened.
