Anti-Racism Group Files Legal Complaint Over Far-Right Flyers Distributed Near Rally
Luminis Paris faces accusations of inciting racial hatred following distribution of inflammatory materials.
An anti-racism organization in France has lodged a legal complaint against the far-right group Luminis Paris, following the distribution of graphic flyers promoting violent rhetoric against foreigners near a rally for Marine Le Pen's National Rally party.
The flyers, which were disseminated at the event on Sunday, displayed a bloodied knife alongside the phrase "French people, fight back," incorporating aggressive and xenophobic language.
One particularly incendiary line claimed, "French people, today the foreigners come into our arms to slit the throats of your sons and wives."
The complaint was filed by SOS Racisme on Monday, alleging that Luminis Paris is inciting racial hatred and violence through its actions.
The organization highlighted concerns that such language is not merely an isolated incident but indicative of a growing trend, often echoed within larger, organized networks, and increasingly reflected in mainstream far-right politics.
Dominique Sopo, president of SOS Racisme, stated, "This shows how the far right, despite its internal divisions, unites around what is its DNA: hatred of the Other."
The flyers are likely to be scrutinized under France’s stringent hate speech laws, which prohibit public incitement to discrimination or violence.
As of now, Luminis Paris has not publicly responded to the legal complaint, although it has previously dismissed criticisms regarding the distribution of the flyers.
The group, which has faced accusations in the past, was under scrutiny in 2024 for conducting patrols in Paris that allegedly denied assistance to homeless migrants.
In response to the current situation, SOS Racisme is urging authorities to prohibit the flyers and disband Luminis Paris, asserting that contemporary racism has evolved beyond normalization to become structured, radicalized, and increasingly perilous.
The activities of Luminis Paris reflect a wider phenomenon concerning the rise of fringe far-right groups throughout France.
Recently, tens of thousands of individuals participated in nationwide marches aimed at protesting the pervasive spread of racism and far-right ideology, with another significant demonstration scheduled for Saturday.
