Stephen Curry Achieves 4,000th Three-Point Basket in NBA History
Milestone reached during a match against Sacramento Kings in San Francisco.
On March 13, 2025, Stephen Curry, the star guard for the Golden State Warriors, made his 4,000th three-point basket during an NBA game against the Sacramento Kings at the Chase Center in San Francisco.
This achievement marks a significant milestone in his illustrious career, further cementing his status as the all-time leader in three-point shooting in the NBA.
Curry reached this historic mark with 8 minutes and 17 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
After receiving a pass from teammate Moses Moody, he executed a nifty dribble move to evade a defender before sinking the basket in front of an enthusiastic home crowd.
The Warriors went on to win the game decisively, with a final score of 130-104.
Before this landmark basket, Curry was already recognized as the leader in three-point shooting history, amassing 3,998 three-pointers, significantly ahead of the next closest player, James Harden of the Los Angeles Clippers, who has 3,127 three-pointers, and former player Ray Allen, who recorded 2,973 three-pointers during his career.
Curry had previously surpassed Allen's record on December 14, 2021, at Madison Square Garden in New York City and achieved the milestone of 3,000 three-pointers two weeks later.
Curry will celebrate his 37th birthday on March 14, just one day after this achievement, which he described as a "special" moment.
He acknowledged the unusual nature of the game, noting that he only attempted six three-pointers throughout the match.
His performance continued to showcase his remarkable scoring average of nearly four three-pointers per game over his career, spanning 1,013 games.
In a pre-game interview earlier in March, Curry had reflected on the journey towards this moment, expressing a desire to remain focused on the present rather than getting caught up in the pressures of chasing records.
The three-point shot was introduced in the NBA in 1979, and its usage has notably increased over the past decade, particularly as Curry's exceptional shooting skills have transformed the game of basketball.
His influence was recently highlighted during the 2024 Olympics, where he led the U.S. team to victory against France.
Curry's future aspirations regarding three-point shooting remain modest, as he stated, "Who knows?
I’ve been blessed by God for many things in my life, but I focus on the present."
