A coordinated effort involving nearly 80 rescue personnel leads to the safe extraction of three spelunkers trapped since Sunday in the Guiers-Mort cave.
Three spelunkers who had been trapped since Sunday in a cave in Saint-Pierre-de-Chartreuse were successfully rescued, as announced by the prefecture of Isère on Monday, June 9. Two of the cavers were extracted on Sunday evening, while the third, who sustained an arm injury, was rescued around 7 AM on Monday.
He was conscious during the operation and was transported by helicopter to a hospital for further treatment.
The rescue operation was initiated on Sunday after it was reported that the cavers had become trapped by falling rocks within the Guiers-Mort cave.

By around 7:30 PM, two physicians and a nurse had reached the injured caver, providing initial medical assistance.
The three spelunkers were located approximately one and a half hours from the cave entrance.
The alert for the rescue was raised by a fourth individual stationed at the cave's entrance.
In total, nearly 80 personnel participated in the rescue operation.
This included 50 firefighters from the Isère departmental fire and rescue service (SDIS), 10 specialists in difficult terrain rescue, seven members of the CRS Alpes, five representatives from the gendarmerie, 15 members of the Spéléo secours Isère association, and two physicians, with support from a helicopter.
