Paris 2024 Budget Controller Convicted for Conflict of Interest
Former financial regulator receives a fine and suspended ineligibility period following illegal interests case.
On June 10, a former budget controller for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games was convicted for illegal interests, resulting in a fine of €30,000, of which €10,000 is suspended.
The judgment was issued by the 32nd correctional chamber of the Paris Judicial Court during a guilty plea procedure.
The controller, formerly serving as the General Controller of Economic and Financial Affairs (CGefi), was responsible for overseeing the financial management of Solideo, the public institution tasked with constructing Olympic facilities for the upcoming summer games.
As part of the ruling, the controller also faces a five-year period of ineligibility, which is suspended.
This case highlights ongoing scrutiny regarding financial governance and ethical conduct related to public contracts in preparation for the 2024 Olympics, which has drawn international attention as a significant sporting event set to take place in France.
