Melinda Gates Responds to Bill Gates' Regrets Over Their Divorce

In a recent interview, Melinda Gates addressed statements made by her ex-husband regarding their separation.
In an interview with the _Sunday Times_ on April 13, Melinda Gates responded to remarks made by her ex-husband Bill Gates, who referred to their divorce as the "most regrettable mistake" of his life.

Bill Gates had made these comments in a prior interview while promoting his autobiography, _Source Code: My Beginnings_, in which he expressed regret over their separation, which occurred in 2021.

Melinda Gates emphasized the necessity of their divorce, stating, "It was something necessary.

If you can't live your values in your most intimate relationship, it was necessary." She indicated her uncertainty about Bill Gates' characterization of their marital dissolution, noting, "I do not know what to think of that statement." Melinda conveyed to the _Sunday Times_ that both parties are moving forward with their lives, saying, "He has his own life.

I have my life now.

I am very happy."

Reflecting on her personal growth at the age of 60, she recounted advice from her mother regarding the empowerment that comes with age.

Melinda remarked, "I feel more comfortable saying what I think...

Life has many lessons to teach us.

And they can be harsh, but they can also be beautiful."

Discussing the emotional toll of the divorce, Melinda described the experience as "very, very difficult," particularly the negotiation process, which she said was particularly challenging.

She indicated that she has sought therapy to cope, acknowledging her privileges in accessing mental health resources.

She commented on the shared human experiences of emotions such as grief and anger that persist beyond personal circumstances.

Since the divorce, both Bill Gates and Melinda Gates have entered new phases in their personal lives.

Bill Gates has been in a relationship with Paula Hurd since 2022, while Melinda Gates remains single.

She humorously mentioned that she has received numerous introductions to potential partners, expressing a preference for someone who is not intimidated by her wealth and status.
