On February 13, 2025, a 24-year-old Afghan asylum seeker drove a Mini Cooper into a crowd at a Verdi union demonstration near Munich's main train station, injuring 28 individuals, including children.
The suspect, who had a history of drug and theft offenses, was apprehended at the scene after police fired at the vehicle.
Bavarian Prime Minister Markus Söder referred to the incident as a likely attack.
This event occurred just before the Munich Security Conference, which is expected to host prominent international figures such as U.S. Vice President JD Vance and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.
Authorities have indicated that there is no evidence linking the incident to the forthcoming conference.
The motive for the attack is still under investigation.
