Tour de France Stage 19 Rerouted Due to Cattle Disease
Contagious outbreak forces route changes for Alpine leg
Organizers of the Tour de France have rerouted Stage 19 of the race after a cattle disease outbreak prompted authorities to close sections of the planned route in the French Alps.
The stage, originally set to span over 140 kilometers, has been shortened to just 95 kilometers to avoid infected areas near Col des Saisies.
Riders will now face a modified course featuring two fewer climbs, significantly altering team strategies in the final days of the race.
The decision was made in coordination with agricultural and health officials to prevent further spread of the highly contagious illness affecting local herds.
