A group of Iraqi Jews has filed a lawsuit against the French government, alleging that their ancestral home in Baghdad was unlawfully appropriated and converted into the French Embassy.

The plaintiffs argue that the property, taken decades ago, remains rightfully theirs and that its use by France constitutes a violation of international property law.

French officials have not yet commented on the legal action, which could set a precedent for similar restitution claims.
