They were married 11 May 1897. Jerry Joseph's parents
were Anton and Eloize Hurt.
They settled in Posen, Nebraska (the town later changed
name to Farewell). They all homesteaded land very close to each
other. Sometime around 1896 when the John and Mary HURT branch
of the family split up, their son (Anton and his wife Cecila)
going to Minnesota and the rest of the John and Mary HURT family going
to Oklahoma.
John's brother (Anton and his wife, Louise) stayed
in Farwell with their families and there are still people living there.
Vaclav HURT married, also, and some of his relatives are still in the
Farwell area.
HURT family split up in Nebraska because of farm depression,
grasshoppers, and disease. John and Mary and all of their children
and grandchildren (except son, Anton and his wife Cecila) went
to Oklahoma because they heard there was land opening up for homesteading.
Anton (son of John and Mary MARVICKA HURT) married
Cecila and homesteaded in Hallock, Minnesota. They proved their
homestead in 3 years and went to Oklahoma and stayed 3 years before
returning to Minnesota about the time the Red Lake Indian Reservation
opened up at Thief Rivers Falls.
